Education Questions

How many Credit Hours are being offered at the NORA 2019 meeting?

The Clinical Skills program provides 14 hours of continuing education and includes both hands-on and lecture style presentations. The NORA General Conference offers up to 15 additional hours of continuing education for optometrists and allied professionals.

If a course is repeated, will lit be the same material?

Repeated courses generally offer the same material, but sometimes the courses are led by different lecturers.

Can I take Clinical Skills II or Advanced Course even if I have not taken Clinical Skills I?

Yes.  We advise you take Clinical Skills I before taking Clinical Skills II, however. If an attendee wishes to pursue obtaining Fellowship (FNORA), they will need to take the Clinical Skills Level 1 and Level 2 courses. Click here for information on NORA Fellowship Program Requirements.

Can I take both Clinical Skills I and Clinical Skills II Courses in the same year?

No. The Clinical Skills Level I and Clinical Skills Level II Courses will be held at the same time in different rooms.  Therefore, they have to be taken at different years.  Most attendees will take Clinical Skills Level I first followed by Clinical Skills Level II in future years.

Where and when can I access course handouts?

We are currently working on method of distribution for course handouts.  They will not be available until at least 7-10 days prior to the conference.  Attendees will be notified when they are available.

What are the rules for receiving continuing education credit?

Attendees are allowed a 10 minute break per hour during each course. If attendees arrive later than 10 minutes after the course begins or take a break longer than 10 minutes, they will not receive credit. 50 minutes of class time constitutes one hour of credit.

How will I receive verification of my attendance for my continuing education credits?

Attendees are responsible for obtaining their own proof of attendance for a course. The easiest method (for optometrists) is to download the OE Tracker app and scan the QR codes at the completion of each course. For non-optometrists or those who cannot access the app, you will be provided with an attendance certificate and you are responsible for having this signed/stamped by an attendance monitor at the conclusion of the course. These attendance certificates must be submitted to ARBO (or your CE organization) at the conclusion of the meeting. NORA is not responsible for submission of certificates or replacement of lost certificates.

Will the conference  be recorded?

The Pre-Clinical Advanced  Course and the General Conference presentations will be recorded and available to purchase through DigiVision.  Previews of these sessions will be posted on the  NORA YouTube Channel.
